Government Intervention: TikTok Faces Regulatory Restrictions and Ban!!!

Social network Tiktok is going to be closed from today (2080/07/27). After the cabinet meeting decided to 'banned' Tiktok in Nepal, Tiktok will be closed from today.
Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has given information about the closure of Tiktok in Nepal after some time.
Tiktok has already been banned in India. 

But ,the Concerned organizations and individuals have seriously objected to the ban on Tiktok imposed by the government. On Monday, 30 organizations issued a joint press release and expressed their objection saying that the ban on Tiktok was wrong.

In response to the Government of Nepal and the Council of Ministers' decision, the statement articulates profound concern and disappointment. It is our conclusion that this decision of the Council of Ministers is extremely untimely and arbitrary, and that it seriously attacks the basic principles of democracy and weakens civil liberties and the rule of law.
Claiming that the outright prohibition of TikTok signifies the government's desire to curtail engagement in the worldwide digital community, they argue that the act not only restricts a vital communication and expression platform but also constrains opportunities for global participation.The government appears intent on limiting the opportunities for Nepalese citizens to engage in online conversations, share their views and participate in the global digital community. Moreover, such a ban seems to adversely affect the economic opportunities. 
The content creators and small and medium enterprises and pose a serious risk to their business stability.

Baburam Aryal, chairman of Digital Freedom Coalition told Media, "Thus today Tiktok, tomorrow Facebook, the next day of tomorrow WhatsApp and in the coming days Onlinekhabar, Kantipur, Setopati and other media may be banned saying that they have criticized." This shows that the decision of the government is wrong. This decision should be withdrawn immediately.

Similarly, they have demanded the government to correct the decision to ban Tik Tok keeping in mind the constitutional rights and the wide impact of the vibrant digital landscape in Nepal. "Considering the constitutional rights and the widespread impact of the vibrant digital landscape in Nepal, we, the following organizations and individuals, strongly request the government of Nepal to correct this decision," they appealed through a statement.

In their statement, it was expressed that stakeholders are urging the government to proactively promote the responsible utilization of the platform in alignment with international standards, all the while safeguarding democratic values.
